Patrice Pike at the Golden Light, originally uploaded by espeedy123.

Last weekend we visited my family in Amarillo. Friday night was unexpectedly entertaining. We stumbled upon Patrice Pike playing a rather unpacked house at the Golden Light bar on 6th Street, which was formerly Route 66.

You may remember Patrice from the TV reality show “Rock Star: Supernova.” She lasted until the last few singers before being eliminated. She didn’t mention this experience, and her website bio doesn’t include anything about it either. I would imagine that her appearance on the show expanded her audience, although you wouldn’t guess that based on this venue or the cover.

I thought she performed really well and looked even better, with a lot of cool tattoos just like a rock star should have. It reminded me of the Rock Star episode early on when the naive girl contestant announced she’d acquired a tattoo and then revealed to the world a half-inch treble clef on her midriff. I don’t think Tommy Lee was impressed. Does anyone know what happened to her? She was a good singer.

Anyway, the show was a lot of fun.
