(by Texas Mike)
First night in Ayer’s Rock at the ol’ Outback Pioneer Lodge – and when the dinner bell rang, we ventured into the world of grill-your-own local game. We Texans know a BBQ is never a bad idea, even when the 38-degree (Celcius) heat is thick with flies. No sweat stood in our way as we prepped our kangaroo and croc skewers, emu sausages and a scotch beef filet over the fire. Sounds better than it tasted, but what a great way to open our chapter in the real outback.

Finding my inner Crocodile Dundee.
